Shillong | Best Places To Visit | Cherrapunji | Krangshuri Falls | Elephant Falls | Bike Ride |

Shillong has always been one of my dream destination to visit. It was only during my semester exam that I along with my 4friends decided to visit shillong and explore the countryside of Meghalaya.
It was May 9. At about 9:30PM, I couldn't wait more to visit shillong. And my flight was on the next day. I wasn't even able to wait for the next 12hours. I was not sleepy. I was over excited. Early on the next morning I packed my luggage and I was all ready to leave for the flight. At 12noon, it rained heavily. I was already late in packing and now due to heavy rain and thunderstorm, some part of the main road from my village(Barkathal) to Agartala was blocked. My inner voice told me that I am going to miss the flight. But it was my great grand luck that I managed to reach the airport 45 minutes prior to my flight's time.
We stayed a night in a hotel named "Spring Villa" and on the next day early morning we started our by road journey from Guwahati to shillong. The highway road was full of scenic locations. I clicked some of the pictures but the pictures can't do the justice of what it actually feels like in reality. We then checked in in a hotel of Police Baazar, Shillong named "Seven Sisters".
DAY 1 In SHILLONG

It was around 2PM and our plan was to visit Golf Court but our plan changed after we sat in a taxi. That taxi driver told us not to go golf court as there is nothing except the plain grasses so he suggested us to visit "ELEPHANT FALLS". I had visited 2-3 small waterfalls in Tripura and this was the first time that  I had seen such a huge waterfall. Elephant Falls is the natural beauty that exists in Meghalaya. And it is a must visit for everyone who visits shillong.

Just beside the gate of elephant Falls there is a shop where you can wear the traditional "Khasi Dress" and click pictures with it.

DAY 2 In SHILLONG
First day of shillong was very well spent. The next day's plan was to visit the "KRANGSHURI FALLS". Krangshuri have the cleanliest water ever. Best thing about the Krangshuri is that you can take bath there but you're not allowed to apply soaps or shampoo inside the swimming area.

DAY 3 In SHILLONG
Third day's plan was to visit Cherrapunji. The locals of Meghalaya don't calls it Cherrapunji, they calls it "Sohra". The name was changed by the Britishers as they were not able to pronounce Sohra so they kept the name's place "Cherrapunji". First place that we visited in Sohra was "The Ghosi Lai Pateng Waterfall". Ghosio Lai Pateng means "Three Step Waterfall". It is the highest waterfall in Meghalaya. It is also called "The Kynrem Falls".

Then we visited the "Living Root Bridge". The Bridge is just wow but for taking the glance of it you will have to walk through 1500+ steps of stairs. It wasn't a problem when we were walking downstairs but during upstairs we felt like we just came back from coma. But the view of the Living Root Bridge is a must watch for everyone. It cannot be simply described in words. It is just wow.

DAY 4 In SHILLONG
It is the bike ride day. We took 3 Royal Enfield classic on rent and we decided to visit the Krangshuri again as the roadside scenic beauty is unimaginable. The roadside of the way to Krangshuri will make you feel like you're in Europe's countryside. And your experience will prove you why Shillong is called the Scotland of the East.

All I can say after visiting Shillong is that, the people here in Meghalaya are so cool and too helpful to us. During bike ride, it was about to rain but a shopkeeper gave us plastic papers to pillions to save own's hair from getting wet. And in a shop before 7kilometres from Shillong the shopkeeper lady gave us heater so that we can get warm. I would love to visit Meghalaya again and explore more. All that said, hope to see you in my next blog, keep loving keep sharing, Peace.
